Itinerary description

Day 1: Arrival in Guwahati

Upon arrival at Guwahati airport, you'll be met and assisted by our representative. If time permits, you can opt to visit the Kamakhya Temple, a revered Hindu pilgrimage site. Afterwards, we'll drive to Shillong, covering a distance of approximately 130 km in about 3.5 hours. En route, we'll make a stop at Umiam Lake, also known as Barapani, the largest artificial lake in Meghalaya. Surrounded by picturesque hills and lush greenery, Umiam Lake offers opportunities for picnics, fishing, and water sports. Check in to your hotel in Shillong and spend the night.

Day 2: Cherrapunjee Calling

Today, embark on a day trip to Cherrapunjee, which was once known as one of the wettest places on Earth. The scenic drive of about 55 km (approximately 1.5 hours) offers breathtaking views of deep gorges and verdant hills adorned with tropical vegetation, including ferns, moss, and orchids. Explore attractions such as the Arwah Lumshynna/Mawsmai Cave, Nohkalikai Falls, Nohsngithiang Falls, and the Garden of Caves. En route, visit the Mawphlang Sacred Forest for a nature walk. Return to Shillong for an overnight stay.

Day 3: Dawki Exploration

After breakfast, drive to Dawki, located near the Bangladesh border. Experience the mesmerizing beauty of the Dawki River, famous for its crystal-clear turquoise waters. Later, proceed to Mawlynnong Village, renowned as the cleanest village in India. Explore the village's natural beauty, enjoy birdwatching, and marvel at attractions such as the Living Root Bridge and unique rock formations. Return to Shillong for an overnight stay.

Day 4: Transfer to Kaziranga

Following breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Kaziranga, covering approximately 290 km in about 7 hours. En route, visit the Don Bosco Centre for Indigenous Cultures in Shillong, a museum dedicated to preserving the rich cultural heritage of Northeast India. Upon arrival in Kaziranga, check in to your hotel for a two-night stay.

Day 5: Wildlife Safari

Today, enjoy thrilling jeep safaris in Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its population of the great Indian One Horned Rhinoceros. Explore the park's diverse ecosystems, which are also home to Asiatic Water Buffaloes, Elephants, Royal Bengal Tigers, and various species of deer and birds. In the evening, visit the Kaziranga Orchid Park cum Biodiversity Conservation Centre for a cultural evening and to admire a vast collection of orchids. Overnight stay in Kaziranga.

Day 6: Majuli Island

After breakfast, drive to Neematighat, Jorhat (approximately 2.5 hours) for a ferry crossing to Majuli Island, the world's largest inhabited river island. Explore the island's Vaishnavite Satras (monasteries) and immerse yourself in its rich culture. Later, drive to Dibrugarh, passing by the Bogibeel Bridge, India's longest rail-cum-road bridge over the Brahmaputra River. Check in to your heritage bungalow in Dibrugarh for a two-night stay.

Day 7: Tea Estate Tour

Start your day with a tea tour at Ethelwold Tea Estate, where you'll learn about tea cultivation and processing, followed by a tea tasting session. Continue your journey to Namphake Village, inhabited by the Tai Phake people, and visit the Buddhist Monastery. Take a boat ride at Maguri Beel to observe birdlife before returning to Dibrugarh for an overnight stay.

Day 8: Depart from Dibrugarh

After breakfast, transfer to Dibrugarh airport for your onward journey, concluding your memorable exploration of Northeast India.
